| SuperYo Renegade SPIKEYHAIREDFREAK'S VIPERGADE MOD! some of you have seen my MOD at worlds, the yoyo hybrid between a viper and a renegade. the point of this was to have the performance and play of a gade while being able to offstring. The furst proto which everyone saw was crude and unfinished and unglued, yet performed extremeley well. i made a perfect one earlier.
MATERIALS: we furst want to split apart the parts in each halve of the gade as in making an oreo gade. I use the sock method. place a halve inside a doubled sock and beat the crap out of it till the halve splits. once the halve has split do it to the other. remove the weights and prepare to drill. we have to cut a 1 5/8 inch diameter circle out of the inside halve of a gade (starburst area), to fill the circle in a vipershell. we do this by using our drillbit . place the inside halve face down (rounded side up/starburst up) and set the drill on reverse. the drill MUST be on reverse otherwise it will not have a clean cut. the drill bit should have the drill part in the middle which u stick in the axle hole of the halve this makes it so that you do not need to worry about the drill slipping and making a sloppy/uneven circle. drilling down at the halve on reverse it should cut pretty well, you can actually see the plastic melting around the holesaw bit as u drill. once you have cut out your circle it should look all nasty with melted plastic everywhere. you can just scrape or peel away these melted parts right off. if the surface is alittle rough sand it. these circles that you have cut should fit perfectally in the middle of the viper shell, but its jagged edges would be protroding making it obvious that the parts dont belong. so you sand the sides of your cut circles at an angle that matches that of the butterfly shaped shell(so it looks like one piece and doesnt effect the string paly at all). after sanding this sand it with finer paper to get it smooth as the plastic originally was(600+ grit paper does it well).
what you have now is your 2 nicley cut and sanded smooth starburst circles,
the outside of that gade halves (the parts with the writing), vipershells,
and the gade guts. you dont need the weight rings/powerbands unless you want
an extremely heavy offstring yo.putting everything together....
Spikeyhairedfreak's "Terrorgade" This mod is very simple, and it gives you 1) a wicked-looking Renegade, and 2) possibilities for tricks using the spikes. You need a black Renegade, or any Renegade that uses the hexagonal nut. You also need two metal spikes, available at leather stores or some punk stores. You need to make an axle that will fit the spikes (the spikes need a smaller-diameter axle, like the Spintastics axles). Because it will be a smaller diameter than the original Renegade axle, so you will need to wrap some electrical tape around the middle of the bolt so the bearing will fit on snugly. That's it! Enjoy.
Opening After they're open... It's common for people to crack open black and white renegades, swap pieces, and make an "oreo" Renegade. Also common is opening a clear Triple Play and painting the inside to give it color and flair. You can also open an old color-changing Triple Play and insert the Renegade's weight rings, to make the Triple Play heavier like the Renegade. Renegade/Triple Play stuff A Renegade bearing and spacers will fit in a clear Triple Play, and the Triple Play fixed brass axle will fit in a Renegade. The Renegade parts will also fit in the newer version of the color-changing Triple Play, but there are some older ones floating around that can't take the Renegade parts.
