alternateIronWhipDivX1.avi
- 294k
Iron Whip landing on the opposite string from usual. You can twist your hand and do a ripcord to trapeze. This is the method that Sage used in his clip video. It looks pretty nice and can either be done on purpose or to cover for a mistake.
pinwheelJadeWhipDivX1.avi
- 246k
Started like a normal jade whip but instead of immediately landing the whip, you spin the yo-yo and whip around each other a couple of times. I first saw Yuuki doing this in his worlds freestyle I think.

Instead of hanging off your index finger, this whip mount ends up hanging off the wrist. For me, it is about as easy as the whip to one-handed trapeze brother. It is pretty easy to exit to trapeze by landing the yo-yo onto the string closest to you.

Trapeze with a slack type whip into sidestyle 2or0. String is held with throw-hand thumb, and the whole thing is thrown around and re-caught. Then a pop-out to houdini 2or0 to trapeze.

The trick generally called Slack Trapeze, followed by a variation in the opposite direction.

1.5 mount with the string held by the throw-hand thumb. The whole thing pinwheels around the inside and outside of the hand.
YuukiTeachDivX2.avi
- 2,270k
Here is Yuuki's trick done really slowly to try to show what is going on. Obviously you need to smooth all of the motions out. After the first double or nothing, I let the string fall onto the thumb, pinch it against the index finger (which I curl first so it doesn't get in the way), and leave it like that for the whole trick.

WhutSuicide1DivX.avi
- 544k
After doing the pop from And Whut, you can do various tricks including suicides. If you do a suicide to 1.5, but put your whole hand into the loop, you can exit the trick. Just don't miss a suicide or you get a knot on the axle!
SuicidesDivX1.avi
- 626k
Five suicides done without pausing between, then a reverse somersault to another suicide. Give this sort of thing a shot, because you can get a rhythm going that makes things easier, and in my opinion looks a lot better than having pauses.
Suicides4DivX.avi

Two regular suicides, suicide to 1.5, suicide from that back to trapeze, and a couple more thrown in. I tried to get the whole thing continuous, and think it makes for an interesting effect.

jimtrickDivX1.avi

1.5SuicideComboDivX1.avi
- 468k
A suicide to 1.5, with an immediate ripcord to crossed arms trapeze (free on top), pop-up to trapeze brother, ripcord to trapeze.
LongComboDivX2.avi
- 646k
Just a combo that I like to do. Triple or nothing with houdini drop to trapeze, alpha somersault to double trapeze, undo to suicide, pop-up to trapeze brother, ripcord down to trapeze, with another alpha somersault to double trapeze, undo and catch or whatever dismount.
WeirdKwyjiDivX1.avi
- 786k
Crossed arms trapeze (throw over free), pop-up to trapeze brother, pop-up to crossed arms 2or0 (free over throw), unroll to crossed arms trapeze, pop-up to trapeze, and catch. Instead of that last pop-up, you can swing the crossed arms trapeze over (to throw over free), so that you're back where you started and go through the pop-ups again.
TBSDivX2.avi
- 746k
This is a trick invented by Steve Brown (is shown at the end of the first MAR video). Very fun to do, and pretty nice looking.
RipcordMeltdownDivX1.avi
- 770k
From the crossed arms double or nothing (free over throw), you can do a ripcord, which drops you down to 1.5 (again free over throw). Because of a mutation on the free hand, the easiest thing to do is just take out the free hand and swing it around like the beginning of Meltdown. Then can re-insert and do a pop-up to double or nothing, or some ending.
BadMax1DivX.avi
- 766k
I mostly put this up for ha-has so don't take it too seriously. It is the first part of the trick (missing the behind the head stuff), and a special ending for those of us that are spike impaired. ;)

SBsFYT(F)MountDivX.avi
- 490k
This is the mount for the hold SBs.FYT(F/T). It is like the split bottom, h-bomb, and trapeze brother holds. In this case the arms are crossed with the free hand over the throw hand. This is a fairly common mount. I just exhaggerated the arm movements slightly (crossing earlier than usual), to help show how this works.
SBsFYT(T)MountDivX.avi
- 380k
This is the mount for the hold SBs.FYT(T/F). This is identical to the regular 1.5 mount, except now the throw hand is on top. Can switch between the two by flipping the yo-yo around over the top. You can get directly into the hold pretty fast using this mount, which doesn't seem to be used all that often currently.
BucketComboSuicideDivX5.avi
- 942k
Ok, this is a new exit from the Bucket that I made up today, and haven't seen anyone else do. During the barrell rolls, I stick my thumb between some of the strings, and as it comes around for the last time, land it on the middle string. This brings you do a somewhat odd (but not so knotted) hold that you can suicide out of.
BucketComboPopUpDivX2.avi
- 824k
This is the basic bucket combo I came up with a while ago, inspired by stuff that Jason (from Texas) showed me. It is mount the bucket, underpass, somersaults, barrell rolls, and boingy. The main difference is popping more upward from the boingy to land back on the string, since I'm better at that sort of thing now. But this is basically like the "shawn_trick" floating around on Stan's and YoAge's sites. The main thing is you want to exit out of the strings to the outside to prevent a knot.
BucketComboUnderpassDivX3.avi
- 1,012k
This uses the same ending hold as in the previous suicide one. From there I do an underpass (with only the inside string going into the groove), which brings me to a position where I can let the outer string come off my free hand to be at trapeze.

chorangemagicDivX2.avi

2or0RipcordsDivX1.avi
- 1,150k
Ripcord from double or nothing down to trapeze brother, and trapeze brother down to trapeze.
RipcordVariationDivX2.avi
- 666k
This is a trick that Jon Gates showed me at the Nationals. It is like the regular front-mounted ripcord, except instead of flipping the yo-yo around the free hand finger twice, you circle the string around twice while not moving the yo-yo.
TwoPartRipcordsDivX1.avi
- 854k
These are a kind of ripcord where instead of having the yo-yo flip over twice and drop a string, you flip it over once, and bring a hand under, and then release. The first is from crossed arms double or nothing (free over throw), which drops down to 1.5 (throw over free). There is a mutation which if you undo, let's you do a second one down to crossed arms trapeze (free over throw). This second one I've seen frequently used.
BroLindysDivX2.avi
- 480k
For some reason (perhaps the way the yo-yo is spinning), it seems like it is easier to do a lot of Lindys on Trapeze Brother instead of regular Trapeze. This is 4 on and off.
Note: All of these videos are encoded with DivX, and were shot using the Intel PC Camera Pro.
